How did the idea of coming to live in Italy come about ?
We have been coming to Porlezza for 8 years. In Porlezza we rent our 7 chalets at Camping International, so we are not completely unknown in the lake area.
After every vacation we told each other it would be nice not to have to go home.
Our son (Quyaro) was also very sad after every vacation, he didn’t want to go home either.
The last 2 years it got really itchy. We also went to look for Italian house sites and look for houses.
Then it went quickly …. All three of us became more and more enthusiastic and the house watching started to take shape. During our holidays we actually went out to view houses without a broker at first.
Back in the Netherlands, viewings were planned for the next holiday
When did you finally decide to come to Italy ?
Once we had delivered the first houses in the summer of 2019 without obligation, we knew that this adventure had started.
How was the process of choosing and buying the house ?
In November 2019 we have planned a weekend full of viewings. In the Netherlands we have selected a list of potential houses.
In the meantime we had made contact with Lake Como Service, Massimillano was very enthusiastic from the first contact and very willing to answer all our questions.
We are that whole weekend, at a fast pace, with Massimillano along our list of houses.
After the first house, Massimillano understood exactly what we were looking for.
He was already at the second house shaking his head “this is not it” or “he was already knocking on walls to see if they could get out”.
Having lunch with his family on Sunday, very special because he did not know us.
From that weekend we bombarded Massimillano with questions and emails and we got everything answered in no time.
The choice was made. It was going to be Barna and Massimillano arranged everything.
The offer was prepared and made, provisional purchase deed was made.
And then came Covid. We could no longer go to Italy to talk to the bank and to sign autographs.
And that is where M’s passionate service orientation emerged.
Massimillano has arranged everything for us: Bank, Notary, Permits, Internet, Residence, School etc etc etc.
Foreigners often do not trust professionals in Italy.
How was your experience with Lake Como Service Agenzia Immobiliare ?
As said before; Massimillano arranged everything for us. Without him we wouldn’t be where we are today.
We trusted him more than 100%.
We jokingly said to each other at the notary at the door; the moment of truth, or we will soon have a house or we will have nothing at all …
So we had a house, and a bank account, and a mortgage, and everything in our name.
You have been living in Italy for only a few months, but would you recommend your choice to someone ?
In the past few months, we were sometimes called by Dutch people who followed our story on Facebook, where Yolanda writes a blog every Thursday about our existence in Italy, and who also wish, have ideas to move to Italy or want to buy a second home. .
We have sent all those people to Massimillano and recommended him to look after their affairs.
Even now that we have been living in Italy for 5 months, we still run into practical issues.
We can still call on M to help us. Nothing is him to much.
In the meantime, we can say that we consider Massimillano and his family to be friends.
We have already had nice lunches and dinners and many more will certainly follow.
Massimillano and Lake Como Service are not the Italian way, but are 100% reliable.
